Enrollment Guidelines

  • Enrollment application starts March 15, 2025. For Fall 2025 enrollment, the Weekday after school program accepts students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade can enroll in the Weekend Chinese School program.
  • A limited number of seats are available. All students are required to fully commit to and actively engage in the program for the entire school year to ensure their spot. NO MAKE-UP CLASSES will be provided at any other time during the school year. If an early withdrawal becomes necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, please refer to the detailed refund policy.
  • Following a first-come-first-served policy, for both current and new students, seats in the classes will be allocated to students based on the order in which their tuition fees are paid, there is no guarantee that current students, or new students will secure a spot in any class.
  • Current students who have submitted their enrollment application by 11:59 pm on April 15, 2025 and paid their tuition fees before 5:30 pm on April 20, 2025, will guarantee a spot in their class. From April 21, 2025, onwards, following a first-come-first-served policy, for both current and new students, seats in the classes will be allocated to students based on the order in which their tuition fees are paid, there is no guarantee that current students, or new students will secure a spot in any class.
  • Your enrollment will remain pending until the school has received the payment. Students' seat assignments are determined by the order in which tuition fees are received. If a class reaches maximum capacity, the school will inform you after payment has been received. You have the option to be placed on a waitlist.
  • The school has the right to cancel classes with fewer students than anticipated.

Assessment & Classes

  • Kindergarten students must reach five years old by September 1, 2025, while first graders must be six years old by the same date. Parents of new kindergarten and first grade students are required to provide the school office with the student's birth certificate or passport for age verification.
  • All new students starting first grade and above must complete a Chinese proficiency aptitude assessment with the school. Assessments take approximately 30 minutes. Appointments for assessments are highly recommended to minimize wait times. Please call (949) 559-6868, or send an inquiry to reg@sccca.org to make an appointment.
    • Before May 30, 2025 and after August 15, 2025, assessment appointments are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:00 am to 4:30 pm.
    • Between June 16, 2025 and August 15, 2025, assessment appointments are available from Monday to Friday at 11:00am to 3:00 pm.
  • Every student entering high school (from 9th grade onwards) is required to take a placement test before registration. Please contact the school office to find out the dates.
  • Students may submit a request to the Curriculum Department to change classes via email to reg@sccca.org. For changes in class levels, students must undergo an assessment. Undergoing an assessment does not guarantee a class level change. Class changes are dependent on class availability. Class changes must be submitted to the school office and not to the teachers.
  • All high school students from 9th through 12th grades are eligible for our ICS High School Extra Credit Program. To apply, register with ICS Academic Affairs in the first week when ICS starts the fall semester and pay the High School Extra Credit program tuition fee. Obtain and complete the "Application and Authorization for Private Instruction Credit for Foreign Language" form from your high school and get the signature from your ICS language teacher. Upon approval by the ICS principal, students must return the form to the high school. This class requires 4 hours of in-class instruction (including three hours of Chinese Language, one hour Extra Credit class), plus one hour online class. Students will receive 5 credits for completing all the assignments in one semester.
  • For the Weekend Chinese School, the school will not be providing the textbook “聽說讀寫 Integrated Chinese” for students who are in high school division (Chinese I to Chinese IV).  Students are responsible for buying the textbook. The school will provide the workbook. If you need more information regarding purchasing the textbook, please contact the Curriculum Department.
