Serving the Orange County community since 1976, the weekend Chinese School celebrates 50 years of service and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Supplementary Education Center/Program until June 2027, certifying it as a trustworthy public institution of learning. The school's weekend program offers flexible scheduling for school-age students, with four class times to choose from, Saturday (morning/afternoon) and Sunday (morning/afternoon). The program teaches the full range of language skills, from foundational phonetics and grammar to active listening, speaking, reading, writing, and conversation practice. The third session allows students to refine their language proficiency while engaging with introductory cultural courses, including Chinese painting, calligraphy, chess, and the creative arts.

The school offers a variety of Chinese courses designed to meet the diverse needs and learning objectives of every student and family. We ensure students achieve fluency in Mandarin language acquisition while fully exploring the rich and colorful world of Chinese culture and art. The program offers Chinese language instruction to students ages 5-16 at all proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners, with flexible scheduling for school-age students, with four class times to choose from, Saturday (morning/afternoon) and Sunday (morning/afternoon).

The programs are offered in three distinct Mandarin courses, catering to the diverse needs of families and students.

  • 繁體 注音: Traditional Chinese written characters, and Zhuyin Fuhao (Bopomofo) as phonetic system. The Heritage Traditional Chinese course caters to Mandarin-speaking households by focusing on traditional Chinese characters and Zhuyin phonics..
  • 简体 拼音: Simplifoed Chinese written character, and Pinyin (Latin alphabet ) as phonetic system. Heritage Simplified Chinese is for families that speak Mandarin at home and want to learn simplified characters and the pinyin system.
  • 繁體 拼音: Chinese as Second Language: Traditional Chinese written characters, and Pinyin (Latin alphabet ) as phonetic system. The Chinese as a Second Language course serves learners from non-Mandarin-speaking households.
